Amazing place for cheap eats in the heart of the PSU campus. I love going here in the happy hour, known as the cheerful hour here, for reasonably priced options for food and drinks. The daily specials are awesome, love the Tuesday deal of 3 dollar tacos and 3.50 dollar margaritas, although cheap they taste really good. The overall vibes are super chill, you can relax with friends and the best part for me is the option of all-day breakfast. No need to write more, super chill cheap dive bar ambiance, recommend to check it out if you are in the area. the draft beer selection is pretty varied and balanced as well.

Has karaoke in the nights Wed-Fri. Karaoke’s extra fun towards the end which is 2:30AM. The place has a pool table, lots of board games and some arcade games. Great selection of beer. Service is good and the bar is open till late in the night. I highly recommend this place, especially when you are looking for a place to chill late at night.
Didn’t try the food here - so no review of the bites. But this is a great place to share some pints with friends. Shuffleboard and Pool for those that enjoy bar games - and karaoke on Friday night was a blast! The people who there were clearly regulars and really leaned into my rendition of La Bamba This is the kind of bar you really feel the love at when you put yourself out there. 10/10 - will be back
Local haunt, good prices. Highly recommend the Vitamin R and shot of Pendleton. Slots are kinda tight though
Great place to watch sports and get a great meal. Nights become pretty loud on the weekends because of PSU. If you like a fun bar and you are a night-owl or are just wanting to day drink and have a sandwich this is the place for you. Brian the bartender is the freaking man and so great and running the show at night.
I love going here nice vibe. Wicked Wednesday's is the best! The food here is very good love love love love love love the homemade nacho cheese.
This is an edited review. Previously, I had many issues with a KJ contracted here who continually made rude comments toward me and my friends. The owner listened to my concerns and took them seriously. The bartenders working recently were also very receptive to my feedback (and gave me a nice pour on my drinks--always a benefit). I've been coming here since 2021 and the karaoke set up has continually improved and it is a nice place to sing karaoke, as you usually do get a fair shot to sing. The food has improved substantially since my first visit. I particularly enjoy the jalapeno mac and cheese and the wings, which are a great deal. Another benefit of Cheerful Tortoise is the variety of events and activities--karaoke, pool, board games, slot machines, trivia, and hip hop nights. As the only bar near PSU at this point, I think this bar has a lot of potential for the college crowd in addition to its regular clientele.
